FACILITATION OF THE EUROPEAN REGULATIONS IN THE SECTOR OF PLANTS FRAGRANCES

Following the mission that was entrusted to him in February, Robert Tessier, a member of the General Council of food, agriculture and rural areas (CGAAER), reported to Stéphane Le Foll its report on the implementation a regulatory monitoring committee "REACH" applied to perfume plants.------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After having consulted all stakeholders on the challenges for the industry of essential oils from the application of the EU regulation on registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals, the missionary has confirmed the need for create a forum for sharing of information between professional actors and national administrations. The Minister of Agriculture has decided to set up the monitoring committee on the basis of recommendations made on its scope of action and composition. In addition to discussions, already underway with the European Commission and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), the Committee will be the main objective in the short term, taking into account the specificities of the sector of plants perfume for the entry into force of REACH in 2018 and, in the longer term consideration of other legislation concerning essential oils  This monitoring committee, is led by the Department of Agriculture and which will involve the ministry in charge of ecology, will be set up in the coming weeks with professionals and the various authorities concerned (Ministries of Agriculture, ecology, economy, labor and health).
