Four still missing after boat sinks off California coast

USPA News - The United States Coast Guard (USCG) on Monday said its search efforts are ongoing, after four people, including two children, abandoned ship off the coast of California. The 29-foot sailboat, possibly named Charmblow, was approximately 65 miles off the coast of Pillar Point, California on Sunday, when the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco was radioed at 4:20 p.m. local time. Those on board stated that they were taking on water and the vessel`s electronics were failing.

At 5:30 p.m. the vessel operator reported that they were abandoning the sailboat, and the Coast Guard lost radio communications with them. The USCG said the crew may have possibly made it into a make-shift liferaft. The two children involved are reportedly 4 and 8 years old. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco quickly issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched multiple rescue assets following the notification. Both watercraft and aircraft were deployed.
