The President of the French Republic spoke by phone with Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal and current Chairman of ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) to discuss the grave situation in Burkina Faso . The Head of State thanked Macky Sall for his personal involvement in resolving the political crisis in that country. It recalled its strongest condemnation of the coup occurred last week in Ouagadougou.-------------------------------------------------------- Francois Hollande said France would support fully ECOWAS to achieve fair and transparent elections as soon as possible. He also confirmed that France reserved the right to apply sanctions against those who would oppose the holding of fair elections and that France also mobilise its European partners in this direction. He called on all forces involved in the coup to immediately disarm and return power to the legitimate authorities, otherwise they should bear all the consequences. The President of the Republic confirmed that civil cooperation, financial and military French were suspended in Burkina Faso until the effective resumption of the transition, under civilian authority. French President, Francois Hollande wished to express its solidarity with all the families and relatives of victims of the unacceptable violence that occurred in recent days.
