100 years ago, in honor of the completion of the Panama Canal, the people of city of San Diego came together to host a phenomenal party. Year-long event to celebrate innovation, architecture, culture, & the natural beauty of the city of San Diego, the first United States Port of Call in the Pacific.
100 years ago, in honor of the completion of the Panama Canal, the people of city of San Diego came together to host a phenomenal party. Year-long event to celebrate innovation, architecture, culture, & the natural beauty of the city of San Diego, the first United States Port of Call in the Pacific. A year of breathtaking performances, awe-inspiring exhibitions, and historical experiences with a reverance to how San Diego has grown, and how Balboa Park has evolved over the last century.
During 2014 & 2015, the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture oversees the conservation and management of the artworks owned and controlled by the City. In preparation for the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, the Commission recently completed the conservation and restoration of some artworks in Balboa Park.
The main objective of the treatments was to prevent further deterioration of the artworks and achieve overall integrated visual restorations. The Commission contracted with conservators and art technicians to conserve, restore, and stabilize the artworks.
