USPA NEWS - On Sunday, July 26, 2015. AFTV5 hosted a group of 25 Mandela Washington Fellows who are a part of President Obama´s flagship Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) program. The emerging leaders hail from 49 countries across sub-Saharan Africa and have shown commitment to improving their countries.
The fellows will establish strong ties between Africa and the United States. The goal of the program is to empower the next generation of leaders with skills and knowledge to strengthen democracy, spur economic growth, and enhance peace and security across Africa. At the event, The Mandela Washington Fellows had the opportunity to meet other professionals in the Austin Community and create international professional relationships. It was an evening of cultural networking. The event was in collaboration with the The University of Texas at Austin and Global Attain Advancement was a design supporter.

ABOUT YALI
The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. Nearly 1 in 3 Africans are between the ages of 10 and 24, and approximately 60 percent of Africa´s total population is below the age of 35. President Obama launched YALI in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.
