USPA NEWS - The last 4 Hoosier Saturday's have not been kind. Now 3-4 with 4 straight looses in a row. This is a Hoosier team by all rights should be sitting at 5-2. Turnovers and slow starts cannot be any part of a recipe in the BIG10 and expect to survive with all your body parts. The Hoosier's schedule only gets harder from here. It's time to turn things around when Hoosier visit Rutgers this coming week.

Indiana Hoosier hosted the Maryland Turpin's. Came in with a 4-2 record and 1-2 in the BIG 10. Unfortunately the Hoosier's seem to have the starting luck that has been anything but good. First play, QB Connor Bazelak drops back for a short pass, the ball gets tipped, hits a Tuurpin's helmet reflects right into the hands of the defense on the Hoosier's 25 yd line. Maryland scores in 1:51. Playing from behind seems to be an earmark the Hoosiers have adopted the last 3 games. Indiana settled in and got focused and took the lead into the locked room at half tie 17-14. However, like the previous drives, are getting killed by turn overs coming from fumbles and interception or penalties that can kill momentum. It was not only the turn overs but the timing of the timing overs. The Hoosiers had problems with containing QB #3 T. Tagovailoa when his receivers were covered, he would scramble for a first down. QB #3 was 25/39 for 270 YRDS, 2 TD's 0 INT's, The top rushing carrier was #24 R Hemby with 17 carriers for 107 YRDS, 6.3 average, 1 TD, with a long carry of 46 yards. Top receiving yards went Hoosier's top WR # 0 Simmons with 6 catches for 99 yards , averaging 16.5 yards and 1 TD with long catch for 40 yards. Team stats lean towards the Turpin's way with Total offense of 444 yards vs IU 351. C. Bazelak threw for 292 yards 29/42, average of 7.0, with 3 TD's & 2 INT's on the day. Maryland led in 1st downs with 25-23 and Time of Possession went Maryland with 35:44 vs 25:16. Maryland did a good job controlling the ball.
