Small plane crash in Michigan kills 4

USPA News - At least four people were killed after a small airplane crashed in the state of Michigan, local officials said Friday. A single-engine Cessna 172 crashed at around 1:40 p.m. local time shortly after taking off from the Oakland County International Airport in Waterford Township, Michigan.

Central Services for Oakland County, J. David VanderVeen, confirmed the accident, saying three men, including the pilot, and a woman died due to the crash. All men died at the scene, while the woman later succumbed to her wounds at a local hospital, the Detroit Free Press reported. After lifting up around 100 feet into the air, the pilot of the four-seater aircraft contacted the air traffic control tower requesting permission to return, indicating a problem. However, the airplane quickly went crashing down at the end of the runway before bursting into flames. The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and the identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.
